A POTPURRI of KUKWA THOUGHTS

1-Why do I vote Liberal?

Well, there's only one way to answer this. There's a passage in the book Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, where she's being interrogated by Conservative supporters at a dinner party, and she defends herself in a lovely little rant about why good people vote Labour...

"The point is, you are supposed to vote for the principle of the thing, not the itsy-bitsy detail about this percent and that percent. And it is perfectly obvious that Labour stands for the principle of sharing, kindness, gays, single mothers and Nelson Mandela, as opposed to braying bossy men having affairs with everyone shag-shag-shag left, right, and center, and going to the Ritz in Paris then telling off all the presenters on the Today program."

Switch in Liberal for Labour, swop a few more Canadian-centric phrases, and that about sums it up. It could also work if you're an NDP supporter...something which makes me realize that, in general, most Canadians have a lot of Bridget Jones in them. That gives me a smug, warm fuzzy feeling, and I don't care who knows it. smile

PS: Go read Helen Fielding's books...they're wonderful and funny.

2-This was prime time drama?

Last night on Wonder Woman, Major Trevor was incensed (did I spell that right?) that someone had discovered the details of Plan XYZ...

That's right, ladies and gentlemen...Plan X...Y...Z (as in ZEEEEEEEEE)!!!

Television in 1977 is a wonderful combination of wholesome/brown cords & flares/B-grade psychosis. It's like watching a car accident...you know you shouldn't be looking at it, but you can't help it. smile

3-Civies Day

It's a non-uniform day at my school today. It brings out an interesting range of fashions: hoochi-momma's, Gothic Pippi-Longstocking's, and the odd sensibly dressed/softer-side-of-Sears looks. And that's just the girls. Someone should remind the young gentlemen, passing themselves off as mini-gangstas (ugh!), where the waist of their pants should be...
