Last night’s episode of Angel, A Hole in the World, was, in a word, stunning — from the depth of the realtionships, to the little joke mentioned above…that turned into a metaphor on how unstoppable primal force can be. I can’t do enough justice to an episode that hit me so emotionally in the gut. That said, here are a few things to love about this episode:

(1) The absolutely staggering acting of Amy Acker and Alexis Denisoff;
(2) The fascinating love & hate relationship that seems to have developed between Angel and Spike (their plane trip was a small but incredibly poignant scene);
(3) The image of the season: the well of souls - a hole running through the Earth, filled with the coffins of the dead and forgotten ancient ones, who once walked about like Titans
Has the bad night ended yet, mommy?
I didn’t sleep well last night. I saw too many clips from The Passion of the Christ, and so I went to bed disturbed, as I always do after watching an enactment of the crucifixion. Only this was a thousand times more gruesome.
I stagger out of bed at 5:15am, head for the shower, only to be stopped by the phone ringing. It’s my sister…calling from Austrialia. She wants to know why I’m not very verbal with her on the phone.
I wonder why…. (yes, that is my sarcasm alarm flashing blood red!)
