It seems that Sarah Michelle Gellar will not reprise her role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the final episode of Angel.
Apparently, the finale was always meant to focus on the regulars, and Gellar was invited to be in the second-to-last episode. However, her schedule did not permit this. That said, she was available for the final episode, but by that point, writing had already progressed.
It's a pity...but I'm willing to be surprised. I won't hold my breath for Buffy to make an appearance, but it would make for a fabulous open-ended finale to the series if the final, silent shot is the Buffy-Angel-Spike triangle that the producers and writers have deliciously crafted for over two years. So unless there's a fat lady belting out tunes in the corner, I'll expect same-old, same-old, but hope for the best...
A Cartoon Returns
I never became a fan, but many of my students will be in ecstasy over the fact that Fox has ordered 22 NEW episodes of the sardonic cartoon sitcom The Family Guy. Whether they'll be on the Comedy Network or Fox itself remains an open question, but wherever it shows up, there will be a lot of happy people out there...especially in my classroom!
