Not a sun destination person...

I'm off to pick up my parents at the airport. They're returning from Cuba, and from all accounts, it wasn't the greatest vacation -- bad weather and food poisoning will do that to you.

Nevertheless, they love the Caribbean (did I spell that right?), and have been down there a number of times in the past few years.

But it's not a vacation for me. I can't simply sit on the beach and do nothing....or relax by the pool...and do nothing....

I need excitement. I need a large urban environment with places to go, people to see, and things to do. To me, a vaction means New York, London, Paris, or Amsterdam. Vacations mean visiting other ports of civilization, with things to occupy my mind. Sand and surf just don't do it for me.

One day, I may even get a chance to visit one of those cities... wink
