I'm stuck at home with an eye infection. It's very odd to wake up Monday morning and not have to be at work, but it does allow me to watch the morning news programs that I usually miss.
Aside from the tragic end to the Celia Zhang case, another death of note today
is that of Sir Peter Ustinov, one of the most theatrical, colourful, and meticulous actors to ever grace the screen. The man made eccentricity an art, most famously in his academy-award nominated role as the Emperor Nero in Quo Vadis. The majority of the movie is very stilted, stiff and overly religious (problems later movies like The Ten Commandments, Spartacus and Ben-Hur would solve)...but Ustinov is amazing. I recommend the movie solely for his performance.
Of course, to Canadians, Ustinov is most famous for his description of Toronto: New York run by the Swiss.
The man certainly had wit -- he'll be missed.
