On CBC Radio One's sportscast this morning, Kevin Sylvester compared the actions of certain reprobate hockey players and coaches by using the following mis-quote from history:
"Will no one rid me of this troublesome hockey player?"
Now, anyone with a history degree should know what he's referring to, and it made me laugh long and hard with appreciation on the drive in to work this morning. Only on the CBC will the sportscaster invoke Thomas Beckett & Henry II. I love it! ![]()
The Silly Fox Wars
This whole situation with John Doyle at The Globe and Mail and FOX news has reached ridiculous proportions. But in a rather large, that's-the-end-of-it article in today's paper, Doyle perceptively points out the following about Bill O'Reilly:
"I also think O'Reilly is nothing more than an intolerant windbag, what the Irish astutely call a gobshite."
That made me laugh harder than the Beckett metaphor. ![]()
