Taking a break from review, ranting and raving for a few days, I'm just going to spend a quiet weekend internet surfing, reading my newspapers, watching TV, and listening to the Doctor Who missing episode soundtracks I kindly received as a present the other day.

The nice thing about the surviving soundtracks from the missing episodes of the black-and-white years of Doctor Who is that they work amazingly well as radio serials. Travelling across the Gobi Desert in Marco Polo, or surviving the siege of Troy in The Myth Makers, your imagination sweeps you away to worlds that can no longer be visualized thanks to crass commercial decisions and lax archivists. I'm particularly interested in listening to the very first second Doctor story, The Power of the Daleks, which I know almost nothing about. Time to redress that...and fall under the spell of Patrick Troughton, the most enigmatic actor to play the Doctor.
But don't fear...by Monday, I'll have plenty of stuff to rant and rave about once more. ![]()
