Death & Politics (or is that Politics & Death...?)

Here is today’s litlle mish-mash of rambling thoughts…

1—Go visit Warren Kinsella’s blog (NOW please…)

That wasn’t a reuqest, by the way… you MUST visit this witty, well-spoken Liberal-in-exile and read his daily musings. Although I myself am still a hard-core Liberal supporter, I do share many of his frustrations and opinions…especially his May 10th musings on the religious right in Canadian politics.

What are you waiting for? GO!

2—Always Plan Ahead

There’s a nice obituary in today’s Globe and Mail about the recently deceased ex-cabinet minister Eric Kierans. But it ends with this strange and disturbing note:

This obituary was prepared by Donn Downey, who died in April 2001

Creepy? Odd? Taking the Boy Scout motto a little too far? I thought only the most egotistical people prepared their obituaries in advance…?

3—BUY The West Wing!

Season 2 of The West Wing is coming out on DVD in a week or so. I’ve been waiting for this for almost a year, having watched my season 1 DVDs about four billion times. Do you miss a television universe where actual drama used to form the backbone of the schedule? Are you tired of insipid reality shows that have as much imagination and flair as a turnip sitting on a plate? Do you want to luxuriate in a reality where George W. Bush is NOT the President of the United States, and where ethics, hard decisions and real human emotions are explored within the context of politics? Then go and pre-order this West Wing DVD set right away. You’ll thank me.
