Wood boy made the following statement today about new Liberal attack ads, criticizing his hidden agenda on abortion, gay marriage, war in Iraq, etc...
"I believe that when you throw mud you lose ground," Mr. Harper said. "...I will let the Liberals descend into the gutter and they will be punished accordingly."
Let's remind people of a few things:
1--Stephen Harper is a homophobe. Opposing same-sex marriage means he can't be anything BUT a homophobe. It means he will deny countless people the same rights that are given to him, by the most tolerant nation on Earth. He demeans the very existence of an entire segment of the population. Harper is a homophobe, his party is full of homophobes, and those in his party who aren't, yet stand by and let these notions go unchallenged, are no better.
2--Stephen Harper is more concerned with protecting the rights of religious organizations than the rights of individual Canadians. There is no other reason for stating that he wishes to ammend the hate crimes legislation (other than the fact that he is a homophobe, of course).
3--Stephen Harper demeans all women by saying that he would not stop private members from bringing forth bills that would make it difficult for a woman to have an abortion. He also associates with people who believe that third parties -- ones which have NOTHING to with the personal lives of women -- should provide some sort of mandatory counselling. Yes, abortion is a serious choice for a woman...but it is up to EACH AND EVERY WOMAN to choose ON THEIR OWN what is best for them.
Certainly, a House of Commons possibly dominated by white-male homophobes should have no say in the matter!
4--Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party have no interest in protecting the Charter of Rights, because they are willing to use the Notwithstanding Clause to deny people their fundamental freedoms, and they want the power to appoint judges that will interpret the Charter LITERALLY...as in only on what is actually written in the document.
It would seem Common Law, precedents, and most constitutional law practices that have been established over centuries mean nothing to the Conservatives. After all, without the Charter in the way, they can remain homophobic, anti-feminist bigots...to say nothing of being able to LEGALIZE their homophobia and anti-feminism.
In other words, it is YOU and YOUR PARTY that are in the gutter, Mr. Harper. You exist in the gutter of civilized society: a dark pit of unevolved,
intolerant bigotry, cruelty, and hubris. People like you set back the cause of human achievement with every word you say. You don't deserve to be Prime Minister of a barnyard, let alone a country as glorious as Canada.
