Well, it didn't put me to sleep, but...

Last night, I watched the French language debate, staring all of our scintillating political leaders (yes, there IS sarcasm in this statement). Everyone was fairly polite, restrained, on-script, and on target. They went after Martin a great deal, but the Conservative-Bigot-Boy (that's Harper to you neophyites) also got a lambasting.

I don't think Paul Martin, or any other leader, made inroads with this stiff round-table discussion, but I did enjoy one brief exchange between Bigot Boy and Mr. Duceppe. Harper asked why bother voting for a party that will never take power, and Duceppe's response (I'm paraphrasing) was: "After 10 years in opposition, is democracy simply about power to you?" It was a good line...and the only really memorable moment in the
debate, although Bigot Boy refusing to answer Martin about whether he would use the Notwithstanding Clause to take away minority rights was also worth watching. I wish there had been more of this stuff, but I'd rather give Bigot Boy the opportunity to sputter with false indignation during the English debate. He's probably hiding in a dark corner right now, laughing that his evil plans for this country are (possibly) coming to fruition.

Hmm...someone also gave Bigot Boy a nearly-decent haircut. Will wonders never cease?

Hopefully, the English language debate tonight will kick up a bit more fuss...especially considering that the most recent poll makes for bleak reading. Again, are Canadians so angry, blind and out of touch that they would have no problem being governed by Bigot Boy?

Let us pray for minority government...then we can be back at the polls within another year.
