"My god, Jim! I'm beginning to think I can cure a rainy day!"

I feel like an election break, so instead of bitching about Bigot Boy Harper, I will sing the praises of yet another upcoming DVD release...and this one's a doozy!

That's right, FINALLY Paramount has put its act together and created a season box set for the Original Series. I never understood why they originally released classic Trek as a two-per-episode DVD series, when the rest of the universe was going for box sets. Luckily, some incredibly dumb people must have finally been retired at Paramount's merchandising department ("Brain and brain! What is brain?!?"), because -- at last -- we have Star Trek SEASON 1 to satiate our desires.

Let's face it, if you don't like the original series, you have no business being a Star Trek fan. Even though The Next Generation was wonderful and Deep Space Nine nothing short of brilliant, it all comes back to the beginning. Watching these episodes in any format only makes viewing crap like Voyager and Enterprise more painful than it already is. This is the series that gave us pon farr, mind melds, Gorn, Mugatus, Orion Slave Girls, Kirk banging every humanoid female in the Alpha Quadrant, and Scotty moaning about "m'poor wee bairins!"

I could also point out that classic Trek gave us space nazis before Voyager & Enterprise, but I won't beat a dead horse...

At the end of August, GO BUY THIS SET! It's that simple. smile
