Of course the Conservatives and their allies have a hidden agenda! But someone should tell Ralph Klein to keep his big mouth shut before he goes on about how he's going to start violating the Canada Health Act a mere two days after the federal election.
Health care reform? Oh spare me! Tommy Douglas must be rolling in his grave.
And Bigot Boy Harper is definitely the silent partner that Paul Martin claims. A medicare system with Harper's party at the helm might as well be run by Wal-Mart. They can set up free clinics between the McDonald's and the self-serve check outs.
Actually....they won't be free.
Electing WHO?
Bernard Lord, who barely survived his own re-election as Premier of New Brunswick, has said he will start electing Senators immediately, adding fuel to Bigot Boy Harper's fire.
Did these people ever look up the words "Constitutional Ammending Formula"? Obviously not. Conservative methodology boils down to legislate first, then dump consequences on the next government.
The Powerless Superpower
I've been watching the 9/11 Commission's recent reports about how the United States responded to September 11th. Quite simply, it was a disaster.
All the signs that something terrifying was happening...and no one seemed to know how to respond. The largest, most sophisticated air defence system in the history of the world -- and it was caught flat-footed. I'm beginning to suspect that too many U.S. defence planners are still working to 20th century/Cold War models of engagement.
Hmm...it's scary to think we've been in this century
long enough to consider the previous one obsolete. But it's also the kind of observation only a history teacher could make...
