I sense a lot of aching, throbbing ahead... (UPDATED 3:40pm)

I'm going to the dentist this afternoon. I'm having some major crown and gum work done on one of my evil front teeth.

They're evil due to their state of repair after a nasty accident involving me, a fast moving bike, and the rear end of a car, back when I was a young, care-free 16 year old. It's supposed to go fairly quickly...but I'm not sure I believe it.

Either way, it's going to cost some money (thank you, inadequate insurance provider!), and I'm sure I'll feel like complete hell afterwards.

If I'm up to it, I'll provide a late-afternoon update. If you don't see anything until tomorrow, I'm in a happy Advil coma...and can't be bothered!

UPDATE

It's now 20 minutes to 4, and I'm exhausted. Thanks to some lingering damage from my long-ago accident, the 45-minute procedure turned into exactly 2 hours of dental excavation!

I have a temporary cap -- and I have a two week wait until I get my permanent one back from the lab. I also have a giant hole hacked out of the back of my gums, which I'm told will be sore (that's code for SEARING PAIN!) for a few days, once the blissful relief of freezing wears off. Soon, I shall be off to Shoppers Drug Mart, in search of medication. To channel Martha Stewart for a moment, medication is a GOOD thing!

I also have a slightly odd bite, as my temporary cap was shortened to protect it, leaving another tooth bearing the load. It's like my mouth is in bizzaro world, but I'll have to live with it.

So, my mouth gets a two week interregnum until my FOURTH (and, please lord, FINAL) visit to the dentist this summer.

I'm starting to wish I was back at work...
