"Get away from her YOU BITCH!"

Talking about Alien Vs. Predator the other afternoon with James and Erin made us hungry for some classic sci fi action. Off to the video store to rent the re-release of the restored ALIENS

It’s been nearly twenty years since its release, and it’s still a triumph of action, suspense, and horror. Wisely eschewing the gothic nightmare of Ridley Scott’s ALIEN, Cameron goes for a military balls-to-the-wall action epic, with a terrifying army of alien creatures as opponents. It’s gorgeous, scary, edge-of-your seat movie making, and sadly, there isn’t much in way of ALIENS quality these days on the silver screen.

It’s also a powerful monument to how far women have come in Hollywood. This is Sigourney Weaver’s movie, hands down. Courageous, capable, and determined, she makes the role a signature piece for actresses the world over. There would be no female action stars, no female leads comparable to male leads, no modern-day power wielded by Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, or Nicole Kidman, if it weren’t for Weaver’s guts and determination in not only protecting and nurturing an amazing character, but in fighting for her right to proper remuneration, recognition, and respect. She’s breathtaking.

If you haven’t seen ALIENS in ages, rent it, get your friends together, find a good TV with good speakers, and indulge in over two hours of some of the best action and terror ever committed to celluloid. If you haven’t seen this movie at all…you’re a FOOL! A FOOLISH FOOL! Rent it and discover what magic James Cameron was up to between Terminators, and before making that film about the giant boat and the ice cube-on-steroids. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Actually, you’ll be utterly repulsed and terrified…but it comes to the same thing. smile

PS: DON’T see Alien Vs. Predator! I was warned by a reliable source…and now you have been as well!
