Some thoughts and observations for the day…
1-Clarkson is sticking around
That’s right. In his wisdom (not that you see it very often), Paul Martin has extended Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson’s term by an extra year. As reported in The Globe and Mail, the intention seems to be to keep a steady Head of State at the helm of an unstable, minority parliament.
I couldn’t agree more. But why not extended it into a second term? Jeanne Sauve was Governor-General forever — I don’t recall her being anything special. Let Ms. Clarkson continue to be the amazing G-G she is…I doubt there is anyone better out there to repalce her, at this moment.
The grammar in the preceeding sentence could have been better, but it’s early and I have a cold…
2-Ralph Klein is a big fat idiot

It’s never a bad time to point out that Ralph Klein is a boorish amoeba of a human being, but since his big fat gob has him on the front page of The Globe and Mail once again, so be it.
The story can be distilled very simply: oil prices are at historic highs, Alberta is flooded with cash, and Klein is screaming MINE MONEY! MINE MONEY!
There is about as much Christian chairty in the man as there is in a block of wood. I truly think he would be happy if he could not only build a firewall around Alberta, but throw every centre-left citizen of the province INTO the very same firewall!
And I’m spent for the day…
