There are newspapers and websites in the Islamic world that have been claiming that the US is responsible for the tsunamis that have ravaged Indonesia, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka.
According to News24.com:
“America got wind of the catastrophe before it occurred. The state department, the Pentagon and the American naval base on the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia were alerted before the destructive earthquake,” wrote one internet user under the name “al-Madhri”.
Claiming to cite an article by a Canadian academic, the writer accused Washington of “not having alerted the authorities of the affected countries, which could have saved tens of thousands of innocent lives.”
I’ve also read reports that claim the tsunamis happened during the Christmas holiday because the concentration of Christian energy created the waves, which washed over Muslim shores in an act of vengeance.
Other theories include illegal US nuclear tests causing the sea bed to be destroyed.
SIGH… Maybe you CAN make this stuff up.
Mind you, if my vengeful Christian mind can generate a tsunami, I could think of many better targets that poor coastal villages and Thai beach resorts. Does this also mean that, during the next Ramadan, angry Muslims will use the energy of their prayers to send a volley of tornadoes to attack George W. Bush at his ranch in Crawford, Texas?
How about we simply grow up and stop wasting time on all this drivel…
