This was a phone conversation I had with my sister a few nights ago:
10:15PM
ME: Hello?
SISTER: Hello brother!
ME: What can I do for you?
SISTER: Is Lou Ferrigno deaf?
Pause for moment of incomprehension
ME: Did you call me at 10 o’clock at night just to ask if Lou Ferrigno is deaf?
SISTER: Yes.
ME: Why?!?
SISTER: Cause dad and I are watching The Incredible Hulk.
ME: Ahhh.
Voice tinged with relief, as suspicions of madness vanish
SISTER: By the way…d’you know that 30 bucks you were going to give me?
ME: Yes…?
SISTER (sweetly, yet evil): Can you make it 50?
Sound of me sighing into infinity
ME: Yes, I can.
SISTER: Good! Bye!
As I believe someone once said, you can’t make this stuff up.
