SANTA MARIA, CALIF. - Tonight Show host Jay Leno was given the go-ahead on Friday to mock the Michael Jackson child-molestation trial in his nightly monologue.
The presiding judge, Rodney Melville, ruled that the comedian can makes jokes about Jackson even though Leno is listed as a witness in the trial, and is the subject of a gag order.
The judge did not lift the gag order entirely, but simply clarified it. Leno is still not allowed to publicly discuss topics that may come up when he is called as a witness.
Ok…I can live with this, and I’m sure Mr. Leno can as well.
