First Night Victory (MAJOR UPDATE)

tvguide0305.jpg

Doctor Who’s return to the BBC came with a viewing audience of 9.94 million people, and a 43.2% share of the Saturday night audience. To say this is fantastic is beyond an understatement.

As the BBC gears up for episode 2, The End of the World, the CBC readies for its Doctor Who premiere night on April 5. To celebrate, the Canadian edition of TV Guide has Doctor Who as its cover story. I haven’t picked it up yet, but you can bet that I’m going to enter the contest to visit the set in Britain.

I haven’t been this happy since I was 10 years old. smile

I also recommend Doctor Who Confidential — the documentary series that BBC3 broadcasts following each episode. It’s both a great introduction to the 40 year history of the series, and a taster for the new show. It offers many juicy tidbits, clips, and interviews that cover a variety of Doctor Who topics across the next 13 weeks. It’s available free for download at the BBC’s Doctor Who site.
