A group of Grade 12 students got together yesterday and gave me the most stunning of presents: A Star Wars, collectible replica Force FX light saber (Darth Vader model, naturally).
To say I was stunned is an understatement — I was FLABBERGASTED!
I wasn’t even aware such things existed! This gift is not only beautiful (and,I believe, expensive), but it’s also a mark of affection from people who know the real me — the geeky, sci-fi loving, 11 year old core ME — better than anyone else. They knew the reaction I would have: the stunned, blank expression…the wonder on my face as I activated the saber for the first time…
I spent hours at home last night, staring at this gorgeous gift, and wondering what I had done to deserve such loyal, sweet-natured students. I don’t think they’ll ever realize just how grateful and thankful I am that they’re in my life 75 minutes every morning. The rest of the day tends to be an anti-climax after that…
They left me speechless, and choked up…and I adore them with all my heart.
