Stop them!

It’s out in the open at last. On the front page of today’s Globe and Mail, THIS headline and opening paragraph:

CHRISTIAN ACTIVISTS CAPTURING TORY RACES

Some in party worry new riding nominees will reinforce notion of “hidden agenda”

Christian activists have secured Conservative nominations in clusters of ridings from Vancouver to Halifax — a political penetration that has occurred even as the party tries to distance itself from hard-line social conservatism.

OF COURSE they had a hidden agenda…and now it’s completely out in the open. Republican-style religious conservatives are using Stephen Harper’s party as a gateway to Canadian government, in the hopes of transforming this egalitarian, open, tolerant society into something ugly and profane. Now…we have it in writing!

Presbyterian minister Tristan Emmanuel puts it very bluntly:

Mr. Emmanuel said Christians have been allowed to believe that “to be a genuine citizen of the nation we need to check our religion at the political door. And I’m saying no, that’s fundamentally flawed. You may participate in the public square as a religious individual and be not ashamed.”

Well listen up, Mr. Emmanuel…you are WRONG! What you represent is a group determined to have their own way, and stand opposed to everything that Canada has become. Voting for people such as you will lead us down the slippery slope of putting homosexuals in jail, prosecuting women who have abortions, and limiting research in areas such as stem cells, because of (ahem!) “moral” concerns.

In short, people such as this would turn us into Battleground United States - THE SEQUEL! Everything they believe is repulsive to the very notion of Canada, and they cannot be allowed to succeed.

There ARE freaky, religious ideologues in this country. Be wary of them. Fight them! Stand against them…because they are a presistent, insidious enemy.

And thanks to The Globe and Mail, we now have it in writing.
