The same-sex marriage legislation has stalled in committee, thanks to the machinations of two insidious men.

First, we have Pat O’Brien, bigot-MP for London & general embarassment to those who call themselves Liberal, who continues to threaten to walk away from the Liberal caucus if the same-sex bill is rushed/passed/made law/replaces the Bible/insert appropriate paranoia here…

“What is the rush on this bill?” Liberal MP Pat O’Brien asked yesterday. “What’s magical about getting it through the House of Commons by the end of June? I don’t think there’s a good answer to that.”

What’s the rush on legislation that ensures human rights and dignity, Mr. O’Brien? You’re such a tool!

Secondly, we have Conservative MP Vic Toews, who — in his quest to make exceptions for all gay-hating people in Canada — is conducting a filibuster against closure of debate on the bill. Let’s look at some of the wonderful thoughts he has to share with us today:

He said he believes that institutionalizing same-sex marriage would effectively label those who argue against it as discriminatory.

“Essentially what those who are the proponents of same-sex marriage are saying is that those who oppose same-sex marriage are the equivalents of racists.”

Well, let’s be accurate on this point: such people aren’t racist. They’re prejudicial bigots!

Mr. Toews argues that this includes not only civil marriage commissioners, who in some provinces will be required to perform same-sex marriages even if they object to it on religious grounds…

NEWSFLASH #1 for the idiotic members of our population (especially the hateful one in the picture to the left!): a CIVIL MARRIAGE commissioner has NO RIGHT to place their religious beliefs ahead of the wishes of those taking part in a CIVIL marriage that is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS! It’s like saying a judge can give a different sentence from every other judge because something runs counter to his religious beliefs!

NEWSFLASH #2: CIVIL means egalitarian, non-partisan, non-religious. Hands off, you bigoted, fundamentalist goons!

How long are we going to suffer these sanctimonious gobshites who pass themselves off as the protectors of society? They are the lowest form of human being, using fear and irrationality as a weapon of hate.
