Why is this news?!?

jackson_notguilty.jpg

First there was O.J, then Scott Petersen, now Wacko-Jacko. I’m sure a fourth horesman of the apocalypse is waiting in the wings…

This is what passes itself off as news in the United States?

This circus? This collection of strange, freakish, 15-minutes-of-fame hunters?

Would any other rich man be subjected to the same type of coverage? Why is this more important than Darfur? Why is this ahead of the never-ending struggle in Iraq?

Even the Canadian media wasn’t immune: the Jackson trial led off last night’s The Hour AND The National.

It’s wrong. It’s trivial. It’s giving unnecessary coverage to a has-been superstar with very little relevance to the world.

But something has to feed the 24-hour news cycle…otherwise, CNN and Fox News might have to start reporting on REAL events! Substantial issues that matter…not this mass-market, tabloid crap that masquerades as news to the low-IQ dweeb population of our pathetic little planet.
