If there exists a state of happiness that can only be described as geeky nirvana, I have reached it…and it’s all thanks to Doctor Who!

1—The season finale — The Parting of the Ways — is getting amazing press! There hasn’t been this huge an audience for Doctor Who, and this much publicity, since 1977! Just picture it…a new Emperor Dalek…an invasion force of hundreds of thousands of really pissed off Daleks…a deadly, final confrontation…the revelation of what “bad wolf” means…
There is some serious WOW factor at play!
2—Not only are we getting a second season, A THIRD SEASON and A SECOND XMAS SPECIAL have also been commissioned! You can read up on all this glorious news at Outpost Gallifrey.
3—Announcing the first batch of directors for season two, we get the news that Graeme Harper is returning. A pre-eminent British television director, he worked his way up through the ranks of the BBC. His first outing as a director? The final Peter Davison/5th Doctor story: The Caves of Androzani, way back in 1984, considered by most fans to be the greatest Doctor Who story of all! He followed this up with Revelation of the Daleks in 1985, which is, by some margin, the best Colin Baker/6th Doctor story!
And now, with no less that four episodes in his assigned block, and a budget he could only dream of in the original series, he’s back. If you want a taste of what he’s all about in the visuals department (mentored, as he was, by the late, great TV director Douglas Camfield), I suggest you immediately get yourself a copy of the DVD of The Caves of Androzani, and wait patiently for the restoration and CGI work being done to the forthcoming Revelation of the Daleks DVD.
I could wet my pants, I’m so happy…but I do have SOME dignity!
