Same-sex marriage is going to be delayed…maybe…probably…
Then again, it may NOT be delayed…could reach a vote next week…might be used as leverage…
So…based on yesterday’s post, I was right AND wrong. Gotta love politics…
I took some of my more geeky padawans/soon-to-be-graduates to lunch yesterday. I got very wistful watching them, knowing that they’ll soon be gone, ready to start the next stage of their great life adventure.
It was one of those moments where I truly felt the warm glow that comes from being an influence in the lives of young people. God knows I make mistakes, but I can’t deny it fills me with a certain pride to look at my brood of students and say “I had something to do with the way they turned out.”
I can only hope they believe I’m as valuable to them as they have been to me. I can’t imagine my life being as exhilerating or passionate if these young men and women were missing from it. There are days when it’s positively breathtaking to be a teacher…even 6 years into the profession.
Here’s to the next 6+ years.
