Beached Whale

tenniselbow.jpg

I have tennis elbow — it seems the tendons in my left arm are protesting the work out routine I put them through, after years of silent, uncomplaining obedience. According to the doctor, I shouldn’t aggrivate it, so I’m in the middle of two weeks of not using free weights at the gym.

The problem is, just doing cardio (bike and crunches) doesn’t feel like enough of a work out. Rationally, I know that I’m not fading away or becoming a fatso…but I’ve never been one to let rationality stand in the way of panic and worry.

My eating habits of the last two days certainly haven’t helped matters. On Saturday, I took James and Erin for a celebratory/delayed birthday dinner, at a nice Mexican place in Guelph. I finished my plate, and then I finished James’ plate as well. This was followed up the next day by a movie (a good one — see the REVIEW section below), and a wonderful Father’s Day feast of Chinese take out at my parents’ place.

After that, all I could do was roll onto the living room couch, lie back, and do my best beached whale impression — listening to the orchestra of digestive juices in my stomach.

So I really really really want (need!) to start weight lifting again. Irrationality can only be combated through sweat and exertion…not incredibly delicious but extremely filling meals.
