How to spend the first gorgeous Saturday of July...

1—Go for a drive with your best friend;

2—End up in Toronto — that glorious, wonderful city that (today!) was full of colourful, sensual life!

3—Visit the Distillery District for the first time, in the Parliament/Cherry St. area. I’ve never been there, and we only did a walk through, but its cobblestone streets, renovated warehouses, bustling stalls, and full cafe tables exhuded timeless charm and a substantial taste of history.

4—Walk A LOT! Toronto is a beautiful pedestrian city, and our voyages today took us from the Distillery District to St. Lawrence Market, then to Queen West Village and the Fashion District, and finally to Bloor West village, tucked comfortably between Runnymeade and Jane, and full to the brim with fruit markets, book stores, full cafes, and hoardes of people enjoying the true start of summer.

5—Buy a long-sought after Doctor Who reference book at Bakka, the best sci-fi book shop around. It’s called About Time 5, and I’ve already become totally engrossed in its funny, contemplative, critical pages. A must read for any fan, especially those with fond memories of the early 80s era of 5th Doctor Peter Davison.

I’m rather sunburned on the face, but I think it was a small price to pay for such a nice day. smile Although my holidays are temporarily on hold next week (thanks to the week long AP training course I’m taking), this was a nice taste of what I expect the entire summer to offer tired old me.
