Big Ideas

Yes, ONCE AGAIN, someone is trying to build the tallest building in the world. The currently plan is for a lakefront skyscraper in Chicago, which will be (spire included) 2000 feet tall. It looks like a giant glass ice-cream cone, so I’ll give it points for style. smile

However, it may not be tall enough to beat the Dubai Tower (2300 feet) currently under construction in the United Arab Emirates. Mind you, whether THAT one will be as tall as planned is still a theory…

So as well all wait, the CN Tower continues to be the tallest free standing structure in the world — 29 years and counting…

Small Minds

Once again, the Alberta government is going out of its parochial way to smash progress, with plans to invoke the notwithstanding clause and allow civil marriage commissioners to have their anti-same-sex marriage-religious-bigotry protected, and trump the love of two people trying to get married in the eyes of their government, NOT a church.

Could these people please join us in the 21st century? They can’t possibly find the 16th century all that comfortable…
