The Doomsday Scenario?

I have to take a moment away from my post-London musings, as the savage power of nature makes itself felt once again

New Orleans is 70% below sea level, and surrounded on three sides by water. Theoretically, a hurricane the size of Katrina — stalking Louisiana as I write this — could turn this city into a flooded, emptied sci-fi nightmare of tall buildings poking above the surface of a new mini-ocean. Countless lives could be lost…

Is the doomsday scenario being played out as I write this entry? All it would take is a small turn to the right or left…but then, other cities would be affected.

It’s not looking good. I hope those foolish enough to stay behind come to their senses and evacuate while there is still time…
