1 — Bev Oda: ass-kisser to private broadcasters everywhere!
Ms. Oda, former employee of CTV and former head of the CRTC, wonders if the CBC is actually necessary, and if anyone is watching it.
What she really means is KILL THE CBC! MORE MONEY TO THE PRIVATE BROADCASTERS! BWAHAHAHA… (or insert your own evil laugh!)
Let me state this once and for all: Bev Oda doesn’t understand public broadcasting. She’s spent her life buying and showing brain-dead pap and imported American garbage, which is used to fund the token Canadian series that occasionally pop up on the private broadcasters in Canada.
The CBC deserves a budget equal to that of the BBC! The CBC should have no commercials and be funded by a license fee…just like the BBC! The CBC should continue to invest in Canadian programming, and in quality programming from other public broadcasters around the world…just like the BBC!
The CBC could even top the BBC…if we had committed individuals willing to turn it into the paragon of public broadcasting it can AND should be. But Bev Oda isn’t interested in such an endeavour. If she were a boy, she’d be the poster-child bitch boy of Canada’s private broadcasters. Bev Oda wants a world safe for commercial interests to dominate the airwaves with the soap, shit and rubbish that passes for the majority of television these days.
I’m guessing she won’t be of any help to those of us with enough pinko-commie commitment to a state broadcaster…
2 — The Terminator gives a Raw Deal to gay marriage in California…yet is lacking Total Recall regarding his own peccadilloes!
So…let me see if I understand this correctly…the legislature of California, the supreme governing body of the state, passes a law legalizing gay marriage. But Governor Schwarzenegger will veto the bill, because it violates a referendum-endorsed ban on gay marriage in the state from previous years.
Well, since I’m no big fan of democracy and tyranny of the majority, let me say this: mob rule does NOT decide civil rights. Government does…a government ELECTED by the people!
Some of these people elected you, Arnie…even some deluded gay people who believed the crap you spouted about tolerance and equal treatment for gay and lesbian partners!
But I’m waiting to see whether there will be a veto on the bill legalizing bodybuilding-dope smoking-sex with groupie-parlours…about which Arnie has lots of first-hand experience. Surely the Governor isn’t favouring one kind of lifestyle over the other…that would be UNHEARD of…!
So who’s the smackdown champ? You decide…it’s too close to call for this rabid yet cynical idealist.
