Nobel language

Harold Pinter has just won the Nobe Prize for Literature.

I can’t say I’m familiar enough with his work to be energized in any way by this announcement, but the citation for his award is written in a way that should bring a warm glow to any hack writer trying to make a living with words.

The citation said that in his plays, Pinter “uncovers the precipice under everyday prattle and forces entry into oppression’s closed rooms.”

I think the author of the citation might deserve his own Nobel prize for such beautiful use of the English language…
