Two reasons why there (likely) WON'T be a Christmas election...

1—The most recent poll, from CTV/Globe and Mail. So much for the Canadian public’s outrage over Gomery, scandal, corruption, rice pudding, etc…

Liberals: 35 per cent (+7)

Conservatives: 28 per cent (-3)

NDP: 16 per cent (-4)

Bloc Quebecois: 13 per cent (no change)

Green Party: 8 per cent (+1)

2—Each one of the opposition leaders is unwilling to make the first move in order to bring down the government. WHY??

If they are TRULY SERIOUS about brining down a “corrup” government, they should be hammering away with confidence motions day and night. Instead, we have Harper, Duceppe and Layton all saying “No…YOU go first!” And the longer they do this, the greater the chance that voter dissatisfaction with the Liberals will continue to dissipate.

So, enjoy your holidays…as far as I’m concerned, they will NOT be interrupted by a useless & costly election. Harper doesn’t have the balls to force an election, Duceppe isn’t duplicitous enough to try to force an election, and Layton has the fence poll so far up his butt that Mackenzie King would be proud of him.

Such is Canadian politics. smile
