Hmm…and here I thought the Opposition had decided to bring down the government TODAY!
Stephen Harper said that if the Liberals wouldn’t agree to their compromise, they would have a non-confidence vote TODAY!
The NDP and BQ Leaders, sitting beside him at the press conference, agreed. TODAY was the day.
Except…it would seem TODAY isn’t the day!
TODAY would result in a possible election date of December 27th.
However, there is now talk of postponing the non-confidence vote to November 29th…leading to a possible election date of January 9th!
Why? What happened to all the big talk? They even backed down from preventing Finance Minister Ralph Goodale from presenting his mini-budget-election-platform to the Finance committee (and it was a masterful, composed performance). What gives?
“It is necessary for us to defeat this government, to have an election, to settle this issue,” Mr. Harper said. Why is he now prevaricating? And why aren’t the NDP or the Bloc pushing for a non-confidence vote today?
This is truly pathetic. The more the Opposition hems and haws about when to bring down the government, and when to hold an election, the better the Liberals look to the Canadian public.
Maybe they’ve realized that Canadians might actually enjoy the idea of being bribed and bought with their own money? Maybe the Conservatives are wondering what they’re going to campaign on…considering that the Liberals have stolen most of their ideas, and simply cloaked them in terms more palatable to the Canadian public.
Can you smell that? It’s the chicken shite that’s coating the Opposition benches. C’mon boys…we’re still waiting for you to show that you have any balls to bring this government down!
