Doctor Who, naturally! ![]()
My first book was the novelization of the television story Time-Flight…since then, I’ve read so many Doctor Who novels, I’ve lost count. Target novelizations, the Virgin New Adventures, the BBC Books…Doctor Who holds the record for the longest, uninterrupted book series about a single character.
In novel form, Doctor Who explores its strengths in a way that even the television episodes have a hard time competing against. Epic battles, hilarious comedies, deep meditations…and the odd piece of inarticulate crap! You’ll find all of it in the novel series, no matter which Doctor-and-companion combination you choose. You’ll never go wrong having an enjoyable time with a Doctor Who book.
Later today, I plan to share some more Doctor Who literature with some of my students: new fans who are re-discovering the old classics. Watching their faces light up — as they pick and choose which adventures to make their own — puts an even bigger smile on my own face. Doctor Who is SUPPOSED to provke such reactions, which is why it remains such a brilliant series. ![]()
