The Chinese government’s attempt to blockade the Internet is nothing compared to MY workplace!
A new firewall system has been in use for a number of weeks — another (hopefully honest) attempt to protect the young ones from exposure to websites that might not be suitable for their eyes.
Unfortunately, the system seems to be running amok.
Links to Ancient Egypt are listed as sex sites! An email from a colleague asking if someone had taken the stereo from her room was prohibited! My attempt to look up the details of Soulpepper’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest was denied to me…
Even Moveable Type was firewalled — preventing me from making any changes to my blog or my class website in the morning!
So here I am, in the evening, writing this delayed post…trying to figure out why Ain’t It Cool News is considered a criminal skills site, and why my friend James’ blog alternates between sex site and illicit drugs site!
This bureaucratic tomfoolery is getting ridiculous!!!
