Some random thoughts to round out the day…
(1) Today is Census Day. I filled out my form online yesterday, and was pleased to discover I only had the short-and-sweet version, not the one that requires me to fill out a family tree, or reveal where I buy my socks, or how much beer I drink, etc…
Mind you, I did agree to the release of my census data in 92 years time. Can you imagine what it might be like in the year 2098? I used to dream about the year 2000 being exotic and far away…
…then it came and went, without much fanfare. I’m getting old.
Just a reminder, the penalty for NOT filling in your census form is $500 or 3 months in prison. Paranoid conspiracy wankers notwithstanding, refusing to take part in the national count is NOT worth going to prison!
(2) There seems to be an epidemic of alligator attacks in Florida…but some people seem to be hedging their bets. Reading through the most recent report, I discovered this gem of a line from CNN online, and I quote:
The 43-year-old Dunedin woman suffered bites that were consistent with an alligator, which “did play some part in the victim’s death,” according to a preliminary autopsy.
You think?!? The coroner on this case wins — hands down — the “bleeding obvious dumbass” award!
(3) Speaking of alligators, let’s end with a bit of widsom from our friends at The Onion, who offer us this news-worthy headling:
