So, it seems the cold I’ve been nursing all week turned out to be a nasty, proto-strep throat & sinus infection…which I probably picked up on the plane trip home from England — incubated in the ice-cold, air conditioned igloo of the Airbus’ fuselage.

I clued in when I woke up this morning, wondering why my right ear was throbbing!
THROBBING!
I went to the walk in clinic, bracing myself for an interminable exile in the waiting room. But there was virtually no one there, and I was in an exam room within five minutes.
Great, I thought. I’ll be out of here in no time.
Foolish, delusional human. Fate is never that kind.
By the time the doctor arrived to examine me, I had already read the relevant portions of Saturday’s Globe and Mail…which is particularly impressive, considering that the Saturday issue is as thick as roughly three weekday newspapers combined!
Still, drugs in hand, I returned home, and I’m pleased to report that the giant, anti-biotic horse pills have done their job; my earache has been obliterated. The rest of me should follow in due course.
I tell you, my summer Saturdays continue to be stimulating beyond words..
