More award-winning goodness for DOCTOR WHO

emptypicture.jpg

The series one episodes The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances (written by Steven Moffat, directed by James Hawes) have captured the 2006 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation (short form).

This is the highest honour one can achieve in the world-wide, professional literary and TV/film science fiction community (the equivalent of the Oscars), and both episodes join some august company, with previous winners including Star Trek’s The City on the Edge of Forever, Star Trek TNG’s The Inner Light & All Good Things, Babylon 5 (The Coming of Shadows & Severed Dreams), and Battlestar Galactica (33). Note that Doctor Who actually beat BSG for this year’s award.

Congratulations…and congratulations to all the nominees (including fellow series one episodes Dalek and Father’s Day). Doctor Who continues to steam roll from success to success.
