(1) You’ll notice there’s a new look to the blog today. I quite like it…but the new spacing of the text means that some of my carefully positioned pictures are no longer carefully positioned. I forsee much editing down the line…
(2) The Pope’s Exorcist (yes, he still HAS one!) has come out and stated, point blank, that Harry Potter is EVIL! EEEEVVVIIIILLLL! Here’s a bit of his rant from the CBC news site:
Pope Benedict XVI’s chief exorcist, Rev. Gabriele Amorth, has called fictional wizard-in-training Harry Potter the “king of darkness, the devil.”
Amorth made the statement about the star of the best-selling children’s series by British author J. K. Rowling during an interview with Vatican Radio during the week.
“Magic is always a turn to the devil,” said the Roman Catholic priest, according to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.
Amorth, who is also the president of the International Association of Exorcists, said the series contains many positive references to “the satanic art” of magic and makes no distinction between black and white magic.
So…this man is smart enough to drive a demon out of a person…but not smart enough to realize he’s simply giving MORE publicity and sales to J.K. Rowling’s creation. What a tool of a human being! Someone ship him back to the Middle Ages he escaped from…

(3) Steve Irwin — the famous Australian “Crocodile Hunter” — has died. He was filming an underwater documentary off the Great Barrier Reef when he was barbed through the heart by a stingray.
The man didn’t seem afraid of anything…though there were times he seemed to be lacking any form of common sense (such as his infamous decision to take his baby to a crocodile feeding). But he was a passionate advocate for wildlife, and his enthusiasm was infectious, especially with children. He will be missed.
