I never thought I'd be defending George W. Bush, but...

the address given by President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, at the UN yesterday, smacks of the lowest type of pond scum. The UN may be fractuous, splintered, and straining at the seams…but it’s still the pre-eminent showcase & chamber of debate for the leaders of the world. Yesterday, Hugo Chavez reduced it to a carnival freak show, when he offered the following words while standing at the podium of the General Assembly, speaking to the world:

“The devil came here yesterday…and it smells of sulfur still today. [He spoke] as if he owned the world.”

“As the spokesman of imperialism, he came to share his nostrums to try to preserve the current pattern of domination, exploitation and pillage of the peoples of the world. An Alfred Hitchcock movie could use it as a scenario. I would even propose a title: The Devil’s Recipe.”

I’m getting sick and tired of this pompous tit. The man rules his nation as if it’s his private oil fiefdom. He cozies up to Iran and North Korea! He makes grandiose statements against Israel that originate in the realm of sick fantasy! His nation should be a paradise, given it’s oil revenue…instead, it’s a cesspool of class conflict that seems to be playing out as a telenovella from Bizzro-world! And he wouldn’t understand a true democracy if Pericles himself returned from the afterlife to explain it to him!

Disagreeing with George W. Bush — disagreeing with him vociferously — is one thing, especially if you’re an American citizen and he is your President. However, insulting the man AND the office in such a disgusting, bargain-basement manner smacks of the lowest type of trailer trash. I shouldn’t be surprised, given that Chavez is a man who revels in his own nationally televised talk & variety show…but never in my wildest dreams did I believe he would bring his dog-and-pony, circus-show shtick to the United Nations!

I could spew more venom at this pathetic excuse for a leader, but I’ll leave the final word to Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who sums him up succinctly: “He is an everyday thug.”
