Ah well...perhaps all is NOT lost...

It would seem I have made a difference…

Since my sad screed of November 3rd, I’ve had no less than three former students reply to me via email, telling me that I had made a difference to them, and that being in my class had been worthwhile.

I must confess, I was rather over-whelmed…even surprised.

I’m not an arrogant, immodest man. I don’t do what I do for glory or accolades. I simply love — passionately, deeply, with all my being — what I do for a living. I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life…and how many people can truly say such a thing? I try to share the human adventure with my kids, to the best of my ability…whether it be through the tales of ancient empires, or the adventures of a time travelling vagabond! It’s all the same — the exploration of life, of the humanities, of science, literature…of everything that makes the human experience worth living.

I suppose, after eight years, I might be having some success. But, I must admit…its nice to occasionally be told that I might be a positive force in a young person’s life. smile
