Ladies…Gentlemen…may I present our next Prime Minister!
Stephan Dion has already staked out his territory as the new Liberal leader. Not only is he fiercely intelligent, and a determined bulldog behind the shy smile and geeky exterior, he’s also shown himself to be collegial and magnanimous.
To be blunt: I like him a lot!
From all accounts, he’s told his caucus colleagues that his door is always open for new ideas, concerns, and assistance. He not only allowed all his competitors in the leadership contest to speak their minds during his first caucus meeting as leader, he also gave them pride of place on the Opposition benches, front and centre, laying into the government with questions that define Dion’s agenda of economic prosperity, social justice and sustainable development.
It would be extremely dangerous to underestimate this man. A possible election may be only months away, but he seems more than up to the task. He has definite ideas, he’s not afraid to defend them, and he has a vision for his country…one that would seem to be far removed from the crass, ideological morass that is the Stephen Harper Conservatives.
If you’re tired of our Glorious Leader’s anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-social justice bent…if you’re sick of watching Jack Layton slowly drown his own party in the muck…if you’re not quite convinced the Green Party is yet up to the task…then I present you Mr. Stephan Dion. He may just be the man that gives Canada back to Canadians…and not a moment too soon. Fortress Harper needs storming…
