What will 2007 bring?

Well, it looks like a very mixed bag…

It might bring about another federal election…although I’m not sure that’s going to happen, especially if there is a provincial election in Quebec. It’s more likely our spawn-of-Satan Prime Minister will throw money, jobs, and opportunities at the province, in order to help the re-election chances of Jean Charest’s federalist Liberals.

That said, anything could happen after the budget is released in February. One way or another, it’s going to be interesting…

I’m also hoping for a year that will see continued good health for my parents. I don’t want them to go through another year of terror and worry…and I definitely could use a year without much terror and worry.

Luckily, I have many more fantastic things to look forward to this year…such as my third trip to England…only this time, I’m taking 25 students along for the ride. I’m guessing this is going to make for one hell of a rewarding experience…certainly an exhausting experience… ;-)

As for television, Battlestar Galactica will pick up with the remaining episodes of its magnificent third season (though it’s being shifted to an irritating new time slot)…and Doctor Who will return with its own third series…promising us a new companion, and amazing visits to Shakespeare’s time, more alien words, hospitals being transferred to the moon, pre-World War I England, the return of John Barrowman’s Captain Jack…and the Daleks take Manhattan. In 1930!

So, one this last day of holidays, as I gather my strength to re-start normal life on Monday, I can only hope that everything will work out for the best this year. Last year was a roller coaster of emotional turmoil — ultimate highs, and deep, dark lows — and I’m hoping 2007 will offer far more in the way of glorious victories than glorious defeats.

But you never can tell…
