Politico-Bizzaroworld?

Ladies and gentlemen…I think the world of Canadian politics has slipped into the Twilight Zone.

Is this deal between Liberal Party leader Stephan Dion and Green Party leader Elizabeth May some kind of brilliant political ploy? Is it simply a desperate game of tactics? Is it some sort of masterplan to take away votes from the NDP? Is Elizabeth May suicidal in her attempt to take away Peter McKay’s seat? Has Stephan Dion lost his mind…or is he working on a level that would make Dr. Evil applaud?

Frankly, I think some extra-dimensional portal has sucked us ALL in!

Whatever it is, the result was something I never though I’d see on television: former NDP leader Ed Broadbent and Conservative minister (and annoying prat) Monte Solberg both DEFENDING the right of people to vote for the Liberals, and the supposed demise of a grand-old party! Their attempts to wax lyrical about an opposing force they’ve been trying to annihilate (especially the Conservatives) are nothing short of being worthy of the mirror-universe episode of Star Trek!

Well, the idea that Monte Solberg — or any Conservative — can wax lyrically about ANYTHING is a bit of an exaggeration, but just go with the flow, dear readers…

Some people believe that this new Liberal/Green alliance is a brilliant move…while others believe it to be the death knell of the Liberal Party. I’m content to sit back and watch it unfold…but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that, as far as Canadian politics is concerned, the entire affair has become the politicial equivalent of watching a Quentin Tarantino film, fuelled by extra-special hallucinogenic drugs! Throw in narration by Rod Serling, and this strange spectacle would be complete!

It almost makes me wish I was back in school, working on my political science degree…almost. wink
