…sick of hearing about the deaths of Canadan soliders. Sick beyond the telling of it!
Six dead, from one roadside bomb?
I have students who have graduated from school, and are either in the military, or going into the military…and every time I watch the news, and hear about the deaths of Canadian soliders, my gut twists with panic & foreboding…

Will I know these young men and women?
Did I teach them? And if I did…have I just witnessed their young lives snuffed out for no reason whatsoever?
At this point, I’m becoming more and more convinced that we aren’t achieving anything constructive in Afghanistan…and that the pressure has been placed entirely on the Canadian military. No other NATO allies are rushing in to support operations in the south of the country…for the simple reason that no other country wants to send its soldiers into a depressing, no-win slaughter pen.
Six honourable soliders lost their lives…and there is nothing to show for it, except grief and frustration. Why are we there…and what do you tell the parents of these young men and women? What the hell did they die FOR!
And what could you possibly tell their parents that would comfort them without being a lie…?
