I had my mind blown wide open tonight.
My friend Corey and his girlfriend paid me a visit tonight, and as they were leaving, the end credits were rolling on a TV broadcast of the wonderful 80s blockbuster film Ghostbusters. I began to wax lyrically about my memories of seeing the movie first-run when I was 10 years old, and invited Corey to join in the geek-fest…
…only to be told that he had NOT seen the film! NOT SEEN THE FILM!
I jibbered…I babbled…I blubbered…for minutes on end…I’m surprised I didn’t drool. My mouth certainly hung open, and my eyes were definitely bulging out of their sockets. There was no fainting (that would have been so VERY unbecoming)…but it took some effort!
“Symmetrical book stacking…just like the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947.”
“You’re right. No human being would stack books like this.”
HOW? My oldest padawan…a geeky fellow traveller who shares so many tastes and interests with me that, at times, we share a brain! Someone who has seen and shared much of the film and television ouvre of geekdom…HOW does such a person NOT manage to see GHOSTBUSTERS?!?
There will be a necessary tutorial very soon. There will be sharing of the glory that is Bill Murray…shared slimings…the attack of the Stay-Puff Marshmellow Man…a tour of the world of Zuul…

There WILL be indoctrination. Although I will refrain from transforming him into a demon-dog servant of a prehistoric god, such a gap in geey widsom cannot be permitted. Perhaps a whipping with a bag of Stay-Puff Marshmellows…
On top of this re-education, I shall have to discover what else he hasn’t seen…as I have no desire to have my wits shredded in such a manner ever again! I have a reputation to keep up…and so does HE!
I won’t be accused of producing young padawans that aren’t up to snuff…
