Random Wednesday Tiddly-Bits

(1) I was planning on taking my history classes to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crysal Skull at the ever reliable Scotiabank (formerley Paramount) Theatre, behind the CityTV building, in Toronto.

However, my friend Corey is planning on taking me (as a birthday treat) to see Indy opening night at the brand new AMC MEGA-theatre, on the corner of Yonge and Dundas, right next to Dundas Square and the Eaton Centre. This building has been years in the making, and both the digital presentation AND the over-sized seats (so very very nice for a man of my ginormous stature) are piquing my curiosity.

I’m also fascinated by the chance to glimpse Toronto’s answer to New York’s Time Square. Will the new collection of gaudy, loud, oversized digital screens, neon signs, and massive public square space work effectively? Or will I arrive to find an urban nightmare of atrocious, brutal design crimes?

I’ll send back a report post-visit…and if I like it, the kiddies and I are going to make a slight alteration to our itinerary… wink

(2) Ahh…what would the world be without disagreement.

If you think I’m absolutely deluded by my review of The Doctor’s Daughter (and I’m NOT changing my mind…I’m smitten with the episode), then go and visit my friend James’ blog for a splash of cold water. He thinks its the weakest episode since Doctor Who’s return in 2005, though — for my money — I’m sticking with New Earth and Evolution of the Daleks as rivals for that not-so-coveted honour.

In any event, watch the episode and decide for yourself…because, as the Doctor himself once pointed out, that’s democracy. beam
