She would (probably) “not be amused” by the title, but what the hell…Victoria Day is a time to be a little bit more laid back about life. As the summer approaches, and the world sinks into a humidity-induced calm, lethargy is the word for Victoria Day…
…except this Victoria Day is more like the calm before the storm, in my case.
Let’s see…this week alone, I have to rush home and slosh waterproof sealer into the beams of my mom’s deck…then rush to Home Depot with my mom, in order to buy paint for the bedroom…then move my mom’s furniture out of her bedroom so that it can be painted…then steam-clean my mom’s bedroom carpet…then move my mom’s furniture BACK INTO the bedroom…
There’s a theme developing here, if you haven’t noticed.
Somewhere in between these DIY dance-offs, I have a birthday trip into the heart of Toronto for the opening night of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull…then a couple of mini-birthday celebrations the next day…then my actual birthday (Saturday, May 24th…presents very welcome), which I will celebrate with my mom and sister.
I also need to clean the apartment sometime that week…perhaps during some free time at 1am…
So…I’m going to enjoy this day of quiet, because very shortly all hell will break loose (or should that read, hellish paint cans). Wherever you are, I hope you too are enjoying this day, and are raising a toast to her majesty. She did, after all, pick our captial city…but that’s another matter entirely. ;-)
