SIGH…
Nothing I can do about it. My girl lost, end of story. However, this does present an amazing, historic, years-in-the-making opportunity: An Obama/Clinton election ticket.
Sure…it’s far too liberal a line-up for some Americans. Sure…there is still a great deal of bad blood between the Clinton and Obama camps…
But deep down, I believe the ones who most likely have the least number of differences and issues are Clinton and Obama themselves…and a unity ticket could represent the most enormous change in the political character of the United States since the civil rights wars of the 1960s.
It’s also the quickest way to unite factions within the Democratic Party, which seem to be at cross-purposes. Obama/Clinton would cover white working class men, African & Hispanic Americans, the young, and women of all ages. I’m afraid we’ve left out the Christian fundamentalist bible-thumpers, but I’m sure they’ll find their comfort watching Pat Robertson bemoaning an Obama/Clinton United States as the new Sodom & Gomorrah, while simultaneously begging for donations to the Republican Party. You can’t please everyone. 
Talk about shattering glass ceilings and eliminating colour barriers…an Obama/Clinton ticket is positively thermonuclear! Let the conservative minions swipe at it; I certainly wouldn’t fear such a battle with the right wing forces of evil. And let’s not kid ourselves…they ARE evil. 
I LONG for giants to walk the political stage once more…in Canada, in the United States, in the world at large. In an age when leadership, statesmen, and grand vision seem to be extinct species, this could be the first step towards something special indeed. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
