My thoughts on Feckless Leader’s address to the nation (as I watched, in real time, on the CBC…):
(1) What the hell is this…an infomercial? A slow, swing-around opening shot with mood lighting? Cheesy fanfare? Where’s Anthony Robbins? Where is the warning that CBC doesn’t take responsibility for the following paid announcement? Showcase wouldn’t have shown this at 4am!
(2) We’re getting a list of things Feckless Leader’s government is doing for the economy…which, last time I checked, is just a list of things completed ages and ages ago. GEOLOGICAL ages ago. Things done RECENTLY for the economy? Umm…oh yes…ZERO.
(3) He’s consulting WIDELY with Canadians? CONSULTING…WIDELY…STEPHEN HARPER? SYNTAX ERROR!!!
Would all the Canadians CONSULTED by Feckless Leader raise their hands?
(Sound of disbelieving crickets chirping)
I thought so. Perhaps it was his blue-fat-grandad sweater that was actually making these claims, from somewhere deep within his closet…
(4) He’s trying to smile (very inanely) throughout the entire speech. He’s either clinically insane or high on the government’s stash of medicinal marijuana…take your pick. Perhaps Stockwell Day is making funny faces at him from behind the tele-prompter?
(5) …blah blah evil separatists blah blah blah ignore the fact that they voted with me MANY times in the past blah blah blah opposition ISN’T in a coalition with separatists blah blah blah take advantage of Canadians with no knowledge of the constitution and prey on their ignorance & fear blah blah blah I’m the master of mendacity blah blah blah…
(6) This is NOT a “pivotal moment in our history”, oh Feckless One. World War II WAS a pivotal moment in our history! Patriation of the Constitution WAS a pivotal moment in our history!
THIS!? This is the pivotal moment in your career! Can you HEAR it sliding into the abyss?
(7) Peter Mansbridge has just informed us that the French version of tonight’s speech removed all the references to SEPARATISTS that littered the English speech. Quelle surprise!
(8) Oooh! Evil hokey storm chromakey skyscape superimposed behind Mr. Mansbridge! The most stupidly brilliant thing about this evening’s flim-flam exercise…
OVERALL VERDICT: What a terrible waste of cable bandwidth!
PS: The Conservatives appealing to rookie Liberal MP Justin Trudeau to NOT negotiate with separatists, because it is making his father scream in his tomb, are specimens of total gobshite! How total? Mr. Mansbridge (bless his wisdom and great power) reminds us that he was there in 1981, watching Federalist GOD Pierre Trudeau NEGOTIATE and TALK with Separatist GOD Rene Levesque about our (then) new constitution.
AGAIN…Conservatives…history…logic…selective memory…PhD in machiavellian mendacity…SIGH!
